Golden Seal can affect the way the body processes numerous medicines by inhibiting the CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 metabolic pathways. This gives it a comparatively high potential for medication interactions.

Professional review is particularly important with medicines that have a narrow therapeutic range, sedatives, anaesthetic medicines and medicines affected by CYP2D6 or CYP3A4.

MediHerb’s current interaction guidance advises monitoring with midazolam because Golden Seal may increase its level.
