Seek professional advice if coughing or throat symptoms worsen or continue for longer than one week.
Seek prompt medical assessment if shortness of breath, wheezing, high or persistent fever, chest pain, coughing up blood, purulent or thick discoloured mucus, confusion or rapidly worsening symptoms develops.
Do not use Ribwort as a substitute for asthma inhalers, antibiotics, antiviral medicine or another prescribed respiratory treatment.
Do not describe Ribwort as treating sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia, influenza or COVID-19.
Ear pain, ear discharge, reduced hearing or fever may indicate an ear condition requiring assessment rather than continued herbal treatment.
Persistent facial pain, marked sinus pressure, high fever, facial swelling or symptoms that worsen after initially improving also require medical review.
The EMA monograph lists no reported medicine interactions for the Ribwort preparations reviewed. This does not guarantee compatibility with every medicine or health condition.
Consult your healthcare practitioner before use if you take prescription medicines or are receiving treatment for an existing respiratory, allergic or immune condition.
Do not apply this oral ethanol-containing extract directly to irritated or broken skin. Although some Ribwort preparations have traditional topical uses, the current product page does not provide topical directions for this 1:2 liquid extract.
Discontinue use seven days before general anaesthesia, surgery or an invasive procedure unless otherwise directed by your treating healthcare professional.
