What L-theanine is
L-theanine is a non-protein amino acid found naturally in tea leaves, especially green tea.
L-theanine is often discussed because of its relationship with relaxation, attention and stress response. In supplement form, it may appear as capsules, powders or as part of broader calm and sleep formulas.
Unlike 5-HTP, L-theanine is not a serotonin precursor. Unlike magnesium, it is not a mineral. Unlike melatonin, it is not primarily a sleep-timing hormone. This makes it useful to position separately instead of grouping every “calm” ingredient together.
Naturally found in tea leaves and commonly used in calm-focus supplement formulas.
Often chosen when relaxation and mental clarity are both part of the support goal.
Available as powder, capsules or in broader nervous system and sleep formulas.
