Heavy menstrual bleeding can have several causes, including hormonal changes, uterine conditions and bleeding disorders. See your doctor if periods are heavy, last longer than usual, affect everyday life or cause tiredness, pallor, dizziness or significant pain.
Seek urgent medical care if vaginal bleeding is extremely heavy or accompanied by faintness or a feeling that you may pass out.
Bleeding between periods, bleeding after sex, bleeding during pregnancy and any bleeding after menopause require medical assessment.
Do not use Lady’s Mantle to delay assessment of unexplained menstrual or vaginal bleeding.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before use if you take anticoagulant or antiplatelet medicines, use hormonal medication or contraception, have a diagnosed bleeding disorder or are undergoing investigation for abnormal bleeding.
This precaution does not claim a proven herb–medicine interaction. It reflects the importance of determining why abnormal bleeding is occurring.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only when specifically directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.
Do not use this product to self-manage bleeding during pregnancy. Vaginal bleeding during pregnancy requires prompt professional advice.
Do not use as a vaginal douche to treat unusual discharge, odour, itching, burning or irritation.
Changes in vaginal discharge may be caused by infection or another condition requiring examination or testing. Healthdirect advises avoiding vaginal douching because it can contribute to irritation and disruption of normal vaginal health.
Lady’s Mantle should not replace appropriate fluid and electrolyte management during diarrhoea.
Seek medical advice for ongoing diarrhoea, blood or mucus in the stool, fever, unexplained weight loss, diarrhoea during the night or signs of dehydration.
Do not give this practitioner extract to a child or adolescent unless an age-appropriate amount has been individually prescribed.
Reliable safety and medicine-interaction information for concentrated single-herb Lady’s Mantle preparations is limited.
Stop use and obtain professional advice if symptoms worsen or an unexpected reaction develops.
Discontinue use at least seven days before general anaesthesia, surgery or an invasive procedure unless otherwise directed by your treating healthcare professional.
