Do not use Marshmallow Root as a substitute for medical assessment or treatment of influenza, COVID-19, asthma, pneumonia, bacterial respiratory infection or another serious illness.
Seek medical advice if a cough or throat irritation worsens, returns repeatedly or continues for longer than one week.
Seek prompt medical assessment if shortness of breath, wheezing, chest pain, high or persistent fever, marked weakness, confusion, coughing up blood or thick discoloured mucus occurs.
Marshmallow Root may provide soothing support for a dry cough associated with throat irritation. It should not be described as treating the underlying cause of a cough or eliminating respiratory infection.
Seek medical advice if gastrointestinal discomfort worsens or continues for longer than two weeks.
Severe or persistent abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, black stools, blood in the stool or vomiting blood requires prompt medical assessment.
Do not describe Marshmallow Root as repairing the gut lining, healing ulcers, treating gastritis, curing reflux or managing inflammatory bowel disease.
If pain or irritation associated with cystitis persists for more than 48 hours, consult your doctor.
The presence of blood in the urine requires immediate medical attention.
Seek prompt medical assessment where urinary symptoms are accompanied by fever, chills, back or flank pain, nausea, vomiting, pregnancy or feeling significantly unwell.
Marshmallow Root should not be presented as treating or eliminating a bacterial urinary tract infection.
Absorption of medicines taken at the same time may be delayed. As a precaution, take Marshmallow Root at least 30–60 minutes before or after other oral medicines unless directed otherwise by your practitioner or pharmacist.
Consult your healthcare practitioner before use if you take prescription medicines or medicines requiring carefully controlled absorption or blood levels.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only under the direction of a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Do not give this concentrated 23% ethanol practitioner preparation to a child or adolescent unless an age-appropriate amount has been individually prescribed.
European guidance notes that ethanol-containing Marshmallow Root extracts should be restricted to adults where adequate paediatric information is unavailable. Guidance applying to teas or non-alcoholic syrups must not be automatically transferred to this practitioner liquid extract.
Discontinue use seven days before general anaesthesia, surgery or an invasive procedure unless otherwise directed by your treating healthcare professional.
